HD01 Hits the Mark at World Series Darts

First stop for the HD01 outside broadcast vehicle from TDC – Technical Direction Company was to deliver HD broadcast coverage of TABtouch Perth Darts Masters and then Coral Sydney Darts Masters, part of the World Series of Darts held during August 2015.

“Darts is a very suspenseful and entertaining sport with a world wide fan base, so it was a very exciting project for us to be involved in,” says Gavin Romanis, Manager - Broadcast Events at TDC.

Working for Castle Media, Fox Sports and Professional Darts Corporation, TDC facilitated all broadcast equipment to produce the event live and offered technical support across the project to the crew and operators.

The TDC flypack was put together as a purpose built system using the newly purchased equipment for the HD01 Outside Broadcast Vehicle. All equipment was utilised with dedicated satellite being used as the initial transmission into Sydney followed by a series of fibre and satellite connections globally.

“The biggest hurdle was that we were setting up our first broadcast on the other side of the country with limited local resources,” adds Romanis.

The program was cut and transmitted live into Australia, Asia, Europe and the Middle East. After the show, edited highlights playout would occur. These were created using the EVS vision system installed inside HD01.

TDC is fast establishing itself as a major independent production and broadcast supplier. Capable of delivering programmes of every genre, TDC is supported by a highly motivated team of expert video and television engineers.
